  • Statement:
  • ARTIST'S STATEMENT Art - thoughts, ideas, feelings and their physical manifestations - serves 'to feed those further down the river'. Sometimes called an eclectic artist, I work in both two and three dimensions across a range of mediums. This requires a heightened sense of awareness, creativity, flexibility and openness in one's practice. As my life/art is a continual evolving process, it is therefore a demanding journey of creativity, revelation, transformation and personal interpretation, requiring much courage and perserverance over the years. My surroundings of tropical rainforest, mountains, beach and backyard have been and still are a constant and rich source for inspiration and materials to manipulate. However I am currently developing visual imagery evolved from exploring influences impacting on my senses, memory and perception. My art practice is very much a spiritual practice building upon trust in one's intuitive and empowering 'higher' creative energy forces. It is a fertile means of tapping into one's inner soul world, to explore and make 'sense' of one's relationships to and from the 'outer' transitory world. The multi-layered aspect of human subconscious and conscious thought is complex; hence, my artwork is becoming more reflective of this while being ever mindful of the dynamic forces, energies and thoughts that connect/disconnect all things visible and invisible. As personal metaphors and symbols develop further in my visual language, self-expression becomes much more intimate, personal and satisfying.
