- Artist Name:
- Mark Lissick
- Location:
- St. Paul, Minnesota
- Statement:
- My images use nature to explore the interplay of theme, color, space, tone, and light that provides expression and communication while prompting introspection and understanding. My landscape images portray a sense of place while conveying the singular beauty and deep strength of our natural world. My journey into abstractionism creates images that represent a separation of the viewer from familiar subjects as they become visually lost. Classical definitions are no longer possible and new interpretations of both the tools to create and the images created must be arrived at. Sources of light, color, and shape are combined in unique and never ending relationships to create new compositions; new images; new visualizations; new meanings.
The images are printed on watercolor, canvas and matte papers to blur the conventional distinctions between painting and photography what remains is the visual intensity, the composition and my choice as an artist.
